Welcome to the
Pennsylvania Capitol's Virtual Tour.
Before you proceed,
please read the following information.
The Virtual Tour is
based upon the use of "immersive imaging
technology." The main visual thrust of the following
project is to showcase the architecture and art of
the Capitol using state-of-the-art digital
photography and virtual panographic technology. The
Tour will allow you the viewer to see the
Pennsylvania Capitol "in the 'round" using QuickTime
Virtual Reality (QTVR). In order to utilize this
imaging technology you will need to have the Apple
QuickTime player/plug-in installed on your system.

The Virtual Tour is
laid out to replicate the public tour given at the
Capitol. This web-based project enables the viewer
to explore, in a virtual sense, the same chambers
that visitors to the Pennsylvania Capitol may see,
no matter the of time of day or general assembly
schedule.
The tour covers the
Capitol by floors. On each floor plan, look for the
following rollover icons:

The rollover icon to
the left is a sample of the point on a given floor
plan that, when mouse clicked, will take the viewer
to a cylindrical QTVR scene of the Capitol. A QTVR
in cylinder allows the viewer to view a
scene in 360 degrees of rotation.

The rollover icon to
the left is a sample of the point on a given floor
plan that, when mouse clicked, will take the viewer
to a cubic QTVR scene of the Capitol. A cubic QTVR
allows the viewer to view a scene in 360 degrees of
horizontal and roughly 170 degrees of vertical
rotation.

This site will
continue to be upgraded as new parts of the Tour are
completed. Even though the main thrust of the Tour is the QTVR
images, original digital photography of the Capitol is included. Please click on
the "About the Tour" section to read and see more
about this very special project.
Now, it's time
